Trails allow adventurers to descend into that canyon. On its western end, the road runs above the deep canyon cut by Pine Creek. Several trailheads allow hikers/backpackers to access various parts of the wilderness. In that area it follows contours just above the Box/Death Hollow Wilderness Area, and provides outstanding views down into rugged canyons. That road comes north of out the town of Escalante, allowing travelers to complete a 38-mile loop back down to Hwy 12. We have a coin-operated washer and dryer in the Backbone Company Store around back on the left hand side with its own exterior entrance. Yes! We have three bathhouses with individual bathrooms (toilet, sink, and shower), one located on Trail 59 (two bathrooms) and two in the lower RV area (six and ten bathrooms). The gas station is card only and located near the front gate past primitive camping. Hours may vary but the store is usually open daily from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm the rest of the year. Our store hours in March are Monday and Tuesday 8:30 am-6:30 pm and Wednesday-Sunday 8 am to 9 pm. Yes! You may purchase small and large bags of ice at our resort store. Yes! You may purchase firewood bundles at our resort store.
